We’ve been adopted!

Here he is, the newest member of the family….Brutus Brutus

He was found by a dog rescue organization as a stray about four weeks ago. They are estimating his age at 1yo. He appears to be an unusual mix of boxer, mastiff, bulldog, terrier, & “Who knows”. He is stocky, has a sweet personality, is VERY strong, and needs to learn some doggie manners, but he is an eager learner.   Let the good times roll!

That’s right, my daughter’s artistic ability has resulted in a new hobbie of sorts:   Sharpie Tattoo Artist

In these pics, Abby is “tattooing” the bald head of one of her youth leaders during a youth group picnic.

This one ended up going all the way down his neck to his shirt collar. I don’t think his wife was thrilled, but he loved it.  What a guy!

not a creature was stirring…

…not even a mouse.
Especially my mouse.
That’s right, my mouse is dead. Actually, my hard drive is dead, but that isn’t as poetic.

A dear friend is trying to rescue the things that I didn’t have backed up, but in the meantime my family is rediscovering how life was lived in the “old” days. Emails, blogs and Facebook updates will be few and far between. We’ve only had a computer in the house for eight years, but we’ve become more reliant that I realized:

How did I find directions to get someplace before MapQuest or Website links?

Finding a hotel and making reservations is much more challenging.

I have to buy greeting cards now. Good Grief! They cost $4-5 a piece!!

My Christmas cards will not contain a Christmas Newsletter this year.

What was that password???

Anything online (bills, registrations, emails, Facebook) either cannot be done or must be done MANUALLY.

Solitaire is still fun using cards.

*sigh*

Invisible Illness Week

September 8-14, 2008

National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week is dedicated to increasing awareness, as well as honoring and supporting those who have chronic illness/pain but don’t “look” like it.  Arthritis, lung disease, heart disease, fibromyalgia, just to name a few disabilities that are not obvious to an observer.  “Invisible Illnesses” carry a stigma all their own.  People may be chastised for parking in handicapped spots, or considered lazy or hypochondriacs simply because their disability is not obvious or understood.

For more information, visit here.   There are tote bags, T-shirts and jewelry available for purchase, and you’ll also find information on telephone seminars being set up for that week.
